More after the cut.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>2017 Retrospective<\/h3>\n<p>They say 2017 was a bad year. Even worse than 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike 2016, 2017 was bad for me personally. I bit off way more than I could chew. Accomplished very few of my personal goals. I&#8217;m not going to go over my 2016 Resolutions since they were a mess. I set out monthly goals and accomplished about 4 of them. I also set up a reading list of 4 books to read and read only 1 of them.<\/p>\n<p>A big part of this was that I decided to start a second DnD game. While this takes up a non-insignificant amount of my free time, this is something I enjoy doing and something I think is worth doing. So I just need to work around it, rather than try to cut it out. (Although maybe a year or two down the line, I might hand the reins to someone else.) Also, video games. Lots and lots of video games.<\/p>\n<p>There were also a few good things that came out of 2017. For example, I paid off my mortgage, 25 years early. I still haven&#8217;t decided what I&#8217;m going to do with that extra money now that I don&#8217;t have a mortgage to pay off. Probably save 80% of it and spend the remaining 20%.<\/p>\n<h3>2018 Resolutions<\/h3>\n<p><b>Quarterly Goals<\/b> &#8211; Since monthly goals didn&#8217;t quite work out, I&#8217;m going to do quarterly goals instead.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Q1<\/b> &#8211; Post piano video (1\/2)<\/li>\n<li><b>Q2<\/b> &#8211; Clear out \/ give away the extra stuff in my garage, extra Magic cards, etc<\/li>\n<li><b>Q3<\/b> &#8211; Post piano video (2\/2)<\/li>\n<li><b>Q4<\/b> &#8211; TBD by end of Q2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I know that TBD is probably cheating, but I think it&#8217;s a good idea to see what I can handle before I try to bite off a bit more. Plus, this leaves me room to think of something cool in the next 6 months, that I can then commit to doing by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p><b>Reading List<\/b> &#8211; I had 4 books on my list, and I only read 1, and am halfway through the second one. So clearly my resolution for next year is to finish this book, and read a second book by the end of June. And as a stretch goal, pick and read a second book by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Reading list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Snow Crash (recommended by Charles E)<\/li>\n<li>TBD by end of June<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also, this next bit isn&#8217;t a resolution, but I promised my friends I&#8217;d get into Legacy and play in GP Seattle in April this year.
